最近、私の作品に興味を持ってくださる海外の方がいらっしゃることに気づきました。
テディベアのイベントでも外国の方を多く見かけます。
そこで、英語でこぎん刺しについての記事を書いてみることにしました。
つたない英語ですが、英語の良し悪しよりも、手芸が好きな方と言語を超えて交流したり、
こぎん刺しについて、自分の作品について、自分の言葉で説明できるようになるのが目標です。
英語にあまり自信はないし、書くのに時間がかかりますがまずやってみることにしました。

My name is Kohiro and I'm an artist of teddy bears and kogin embroidery.
Kogin embroidery is one of Japanese traditional embroidery.
I want to communicate with many people who love handicraft in the world.
Though I think that I have to more improve my English,I would like to start write about handicrafts,my works,and Japanese traditional culture.
For the first,I'll write about kogin embroidery which is my main work.
It's like a below picture;
Kogin embroidery is one of Japanese traditional embroidery in Tsugaru area in Aomori prefecture.
Tsugaru area is the west part of Aomori prefecture.It place in the northern most tip of Honsyu.
According to historical records,A woman in Tsugaru area wear kogin embroidered clothes in Edo period(＊).
Despite cold area in winter,farm laborers were only allowed coarse linen clothes. So wives and daughters of farm villeges started to mend and reinforced the clothes of the linen weave by stitching with cotton thread. After that geometric patterns was embroidered instead of stitching.
Each geometric patterns have the name came from flower,animals insects,and Japanese traditional patterns.
Today,kogin embroidery is known as one of handicrafts.Many people who loves handicrafts embroider kogin.
I'd like to write article about the patterns of kogin embroidery at the next opportunity.

＊For example "Oumin-zu-i(奥民図彙)" is a record of Tsugaru area in the latter half of 18th century.
In this record,we can find the drawing of a woman who wear clothes with "Sashi-koginu"meaning kogin embroidery.
