前回に引き続き、こぎんの英文エッセイです。
今回は、長く使えば使うほど味の出るこぎん刺しの作品と、
自分が気に入った物を大切に長く使うことの幸せについて書いてみました。

■What is really value?
Please look picture.I made both of them 4 years ago.
Right of the picture is a keyring of teddy bear head made of leather.And another is bear-shaped named “kogin-ornament bear”.I had been with them every day. Their white thread turned black.Some parts of cloth become frayed.But It is a value of kogin embroidery,Ithink.
In the old time,poor farm labourers wear work clothes with kogin embroidery.When it become frayed,they repaired again and again.They stitch on the embroirdery to mend cloth.Why did they do so? Because a cloth is valuable and expensive for them.
They never wasted a piece of rag or a piece of waste thread.Their work clothes with repair and use them for a long time.I think their behavior is common to “MOTTAINAI” spirit in Japan. And it is inherited in today’s kogin embroidery.
Nowadays there are many things around us. There is great variety way of shoppings.
Due to online store has become more convenience,we can buy whatever or whenever we want. In this situation,we have to select and buy what you really favolite,and use on having attachment for a long time. It is fortunate for you to live with items only favorite items.
What about you choose handicrafts as your favorable.Handicrafts items such kogin embroidery need for long time to complete. If you can make something by yourself,it is better.Because you can enjoy making your original.
I hope you use them for a long time.And someday you realize that you feel attachment to them.
